Unlearning what isn’t True

Over the course of our lives, we have been taught, shown and given so many beliefs, so many customs, so many ways of being that are expected of us. All these layers of expectations can smother our divine flame if they aren’t revealed.

We have familial roles to live up to. We have societal expectations upon us. We have friends who have beliefs about us and our behaviours. Every adult, authority or teacher we have had, including parents, grammar & high school teachers, team and group leaders all have added their layer of influence upon our truth. They all add to the depth of understanding or misunderstanding that we have about ourselves.

While each of these people have done their best to aid in our upbringing, growth and healing, every one of them has their own version of self and reality based on their life experiences and perspective. No blame.

As we mature, as we lean into life in our own ways, we tend to draw upon the truth we think is ours based on the foundation we have created. Throughout our lives, each of the beliefs we have about ourselves will be challenged and questioned (as they should be). If we are courageous enough to dig deeper when things don’t feel ‘right’ or don’t resonate, then we begin to excavate the truth of other people’s beliefs about who we are. As we do this inner work, digging below the surface personality, we will find the gold of authenticity and truth.

Life unfolds this way so that we can unlearn the layers of conditioning that we have acquired and begin to see the authentic truth of our being.

As we begin to let go of long-held beliefs, it can be uncomfortable and disarming. We can feel lost and unsure of who we are and what we want. This is the betwixt and between time where the power lies to change our lives and begin living more in alignment with our Truth.

Many people weave in and out of this phase. They dip their toes, see some truth and then pull back and reconsider. The unknown can be a fearful place to explore. Other people dive right into the chaos and confusion, allowing the newfound reality to shift their lives in genuine and expansive ways. They see the unknown as a challenge and a new adventure to explore.

Each person is on a journey in life. Coming into this Earth plane, we all forget the reality and wholeness of our being. We forget our connection to Source/God and Nature. I believe it’s our responsibility to remember our Truth. I believe we each need to feel our way through life – especially the challenges, the relationships, the moments that matter – to see if they feel right. If they resonate, they are part of our truth & deserve our attention to enhance our lives in the best ways possible. If they feel off, it’s a time for reflection and choices to let go, to surrender and allow things and people to fall away. No judgment – just discernment.

Life is a process of unlearning most of what we have been taught and learning our Truth. It’s a time to step up and take responsibility for our lives. It’s a time for remembering our authentic truth – the core essence we were born - and live from that place. This journey requires a fearless nature of exploring, excavating and stepping into a different & expansive version of yourself. You need to believe & be willing to see the Truth as it unfolds.

Stop following the crowd. Stop living in the shadow of other peoples’ expectations.

Become your best self. Be your best. Do your best. The Truth of your Being is a Divine gift and it is your responsibility to bring those gifts into the world for the highest good of all.
